28 Laksa Miri

This is probably the best laksa in Miri. It's located opposite shopping mall, a coffee shop called 28. There are 2 types, normal(RM6) and special(RM8). The difference is that the portion is slightly bigger and comes with a few fish balls. The gravy was thick and spicy. It was really nice. I think it's definitely worth a try.

PS: I have no idea whether it has moved to anywhere else, I heard rumor from Facebook.

Myy Chicken Rice Restaurant Lutong

I went to this new chicken rice place to try in Lutong. The first branch is in Morsjaya which is really far away from my place. but I had heard a lot of good reviews about it. I decided to give it a try. I was  2.30 that afternoon, I went along. I ordered roasted chicken and baby kailan. The chicken was okay, breastmeat, couldn't expect to be tender, just light soy sauce over, nothing special. The baby kailan, portion was alright too, but it was slightly too salty. What was disappointing was the soup, the plain soup, you might think think why I wanted to complain about something that was given free. For me, plain soup is really important to chicken rice. It was really PLAIN, I didn't see any spring onion, deep fried shallot, it had the fragrance of salted vegetable(咸菜), it was not hot also, lukewarm, it was bad. The chili sauce was another disappointment too, I prefer the very thick type, it was very diluted. I forgot the price for each of the item, I paid total RM12.70 for chicken rice, baby kailan and teh c peng.

Lao Yang DimSum 老杨私房菜

This has been my favourite place for me to have dim sum. My parents came to town, I brought them here on Gawai, it was really packed, we managed to get a table but we had to squeeze ourselves. We ordered some fried dim sum and there were other steamed type ones but I didn't take as I had taken the photos so many times. The variety was awesome and the taste wise was alright, I'm not that into dim sum nowadays, so I felt it was alright. But I would definitely recommend to those who like dim sum, if you can wait for a table for a long time.

Big D burger, Senadin

I had extra classes on Saturday afternoon, my students/friends suggested me to bring them to Big D after the class ended. I went there few times before and i recommended to them, they were so eager to go. we ended up ordering quite some of the food. we had mexican beef burger (RM6.8) and love tower (RM10.50), i ordered nacho and cheezy wedges...i had mexcian beef burger, it was real spicy but tasted so nice, beef patty was thick, the hot chili sauce was indeed very nice. Some of my students couldn't take the spiciness. but for the price-wise, i think they are expensive but it's worth to eat it once in a while...xD

i had this tortilla earlier on, it was amazing...i have tried chicken(7.5), beef (9.0), lamb(10.5) i liked them all, they used fresh meats, not minced, meat in cubes. it was spicy and the sauces matched really well,  it was just freaking nice!!!

Ayam Penyet, Cahaya Taufik Senadin

Cahaya Taufik is my favourite place to eat out in Senadin. I love their Lalapan Ayam. But one evening, i decided to try out their ayam penyet, it's called lalapan penyet, so you can see the side dishes are similar as normal lalapan. so the main difference is only the sauce. the blended chili sauce is spread over the deep fried chicken thigh. taste-wise was okay, not much aroma despite the spiciness of the chili. Still i prefer lalapan ayam. it should be RM11 but they charged me RM10, i had no idea why. LOL

Hu Ping Food Centre, Senadin Miri (湖滨)

It was dumpling festive. No one cooked at home, so we just ended up eating at the restaurant nearby, real near, one of the most frequent restaurants. We ordered 5 dishes since it was special occasion. Normally we would just order 4 dishes. We ordered sambal midin, Thai style Japanese bean curd, butter milk chicken, salted vege and bean curd soup and Nestum prawn. all of them tasted good. The midin was different from the one we had in 回味小馆, they were a lot fatter, i thought they were planted, they were not grown wild. The Thai style bean curd was not too spicy which was great. But the ingredients in the soup was little, i would recommend to order mixed vege soup (杂菜汤) instead. And this meal was seriously cheap, it just cost RM51 with one bottle of drink. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

the prawns were big, not those tiny little ones.

Maxim Delicious Food 美心, Bintang Jaya, Miri

This was on mother's day 2013. She suggested to go for Shashaki buffet but i refused as we have tried that so many times, i decided to go for somewhere that i might not try usually. She had been eating there for a few times with clients and supervisors, she recommended that assam fish is a must-order. So i decided to try out. It was so crowded that evening. We managed to get a small table for 3 of us. All the dishes were displayed nicely in the glass display cupboard? i have no idea how to call there, people could just see the ingredients and dishes. I just picked up a few dishes without further asking about the price. Well, my mistake! It turned out to be RM80 plus. i thought it was quite expensive. For the price, i don't think i would return there.
my missus told me that it's very good and this was the reason for me to come here. It was quite fine, taste was good, sourish enough but not really spicy. It was expensive, i didn't ask about the price when i ordered. i think this cost me RM20-30.

Mixed vege in yam bucket. This was seriously not good. The vegetables were fresh. But the main issue was the yam bucket. It was hard and tasteless. They used yellow/ orange yam...i thought yam is only in purple colour. LOL, it didn't taste as great and fragrant as the purple one. Regretted ordering this...

This was another disappointment. Maybe it's my own preference taste. I liked the style they make it in Sibu. In Sibu, they would marinate the chicken with curry powder and then deep fry it, they are so much more fragrant and tender and juicier. In Miri, i have never tried some

sea cucumber soup was alright.

回味小馆, Bintang Jaya, Miri

I didn't capture the respective dishes, i just took a photo of all the dishes. I think this is one of the most affordable Chinese restaurants in town. I ordered sea cucumber soup, nestum chicken, sambal midin, stuffed bean curd (called 豆腐杂.) All of them tasted right, just the midin sometimes would be too hard to chew, maybe it's too old. I think for all dishes, they cost RM35 and below. I couldn't recall as it was quite a long time when i had this. I would recommend to you guys as it's really affordable and the portion is pretty big too. They manage to serve quite fast, don't be shocked when you see many people there.

Macaron (Wilton Bakery Pelita, Miri)

Found this in a local bakery, something that i eagerly wanted to try out. Price-wise, it was cheap, RM2 for one. I thought i got one free when i bought in the whole bundle. First time trying it, not bad. They have different flavours and they looked so cute and colourful. But I would not buy again as i might try out macaron from other places. But this is hardly seen in Miri here. Maybe i would go somewhere else to try when i get out of Miri.

Station One Miri

Went Station One last Thursday to meet an old friend of mine, it's not bad place to hang out with friends. The food was good too.

My order, the chicken was so little.  Not really worth it.

Ninepoints Station Café (Permy)

Baked chicken cheese rice(RM6.90) fried rice with mild fragrance, the cheese was too little. So far okay.

The taste was alright, prawns were fresh.

Normal teh tari. I like the taste of this, not too strong. different from others.

Tom yam rice noodle. Not so recommended. fresh vegetables and prawns, other than that were all the fish balls. The taste was not really good, just soso.

Shukie cafe (Piasau)

I think it's a great place to eat out. During lunch time, it's always crowded by office workers. The price is reasonable and the quality is good too.
baby kailan. It's boiled with water added with seasoning and garlic on top. Tastes fresh and the point is it costs only RM2.90.

Chicken chop rice(I can't recall the name). It's in a set which comes with a drink. nothing to shout out.

Mee jawa(RM5.90). This is great and the portion is big. It comes with beef slices, chicken wing, bean curd, half of a boiled egg. I think it's worth trying.

Nasi lemak. The rice is green coloured and pretty fragrant. The rest yo u can see in the photo.

中华楼 (PELITA)

This is located in Pelita area, it's behind the Imperial Palace Hotel. There are many choices of food and the price is reasonable and it's always crowded but this is my first time been here.

Beef noodle, the taste is fine, local beef noodle taste, fragrant with herbs. i would recommend this.
Prawn noodle, the soup is clear but the prawn flavour is rich and spicy too. for those who like prawns and spicy can try this.

Kaya bread, they use charcoal to toast the bread, it's good, it's not dry, the kaya tastes good too.
Wanton, this is good, the fillings are quite much. they used deep-fried garlic instead of spring onion to increase the fragrance which i think it's not bad.

Hole No. 16 (Laksa Lolita)

This is located in the middle of golf field. It's gold club in Kampung Melayu.
The weather was good that day, people were playing golf, they took rest at the shop.
This is what they sell mainly. It costs RM6. It comes with 2 big prawns, egg strips, bean sprout and green leaf vege. The soup is thick, tastes good. The portion is not really big, maybe it's a little pricey.

It's only laksa available there actually, they do sell other kuih-muih and bananas. I ordered for my baby.

MCD

On the national day, we went to MCD purposely for criss cut fries. The GCB was not available as it had no stock. So i requested to change my french fries to criss cut fries. It was nothing special so just it was just more flavoured. It has no difference from those i buy from cold storage. =.=

向陽咖啡店 (Boulevard)

I seldom eat out in cafe like this. there are around 8-10 cafes at the T-junction at Boulevard. There are so many stalls in the cafes too. Some are selling noodles, rice, snacks, western cuisine and many more. i was scared when there were more than 5 persons approaching me to promote there food. I prefer to walk to their stalls respectively to order, okay? The good thing is that there are soo many choices that i can have.
Sambal sotong. It's priced RM12 for small size. i was shocked for the price but the taste was great and i think i would order again.

Satays,  i ordered 3 types of meats, pork(RM0.70 each), chicken, (RM0.70 each), lamb(RM0.80) Of course, they are made by Chinese, the taste was good too, i would recommend the lamb one. and the deep fried chicken cubes (盐酥鸡) RM6 for medium size, the taste is actually fine but i just feel it's oily and nothing surprising about it. I won't order it again.
I forgot to take the photo before i ate. So you could see it's messy. It has water spinach(Kangkang), cabbage, drumstick, cucumber (under kangkong), the sambal lalapan and a lime(at the side). i won't recommend this, the sambal tasted weird and it was not authentic and it has no tempeh and beancurd which comes along with normal nasi lalapan. I prefer the one in Muara Restaurant or Cahaya Taufik which tastes better, spicier and more authentic.

Chicken Golden Blue, it's originated from Jinwood which is famous for its western cuisine, It's cheap , delicious and BIG too. RM12 for CGB. It has cheese and ham inside, the chicken is tender and the cheese would flow out when you cut it. I would recommend this too all the meat lovers.
This is the lamb chop, it cost RM12, the portion is huge and i didn't taste it. It cost RM13. I think it's fine.

925 cafe (II)

Previously, i had post for this cafe. few days back, i went to the cafe again for a farewell lunch. I found that the food quality was not up to my standard. So i think i won't go back so soon before i have changed my mind. The lunch cost me RM43 with 2 drinks and 3 bowls of plain of rice.

Coke with plum. I like the combination but the coke is without any gas, i could just feel the sweetness of the coke. i think they just use the coke from big bottle, so it was not fresh? SPOILED

Cangkuk manis with egg. This tasted really bad, i could feel the greenness of it. I feel like I'm a cow or whatever. I won't order this again. I seldom order this dish outside someone wanted to order. After tasting this, i think i'm right, it's too risky to order this outside.

Honey chicken. Hello, where's the taste of honey? i just feel that this is really salty and the chicken was in big sliced, hard to put into the mouth.

This is like add-on order, this is medium sized and it cost RM4 but the taste was not to my liking too. It's like added with ketchup. It's not like sour and spicy soup. YUCK!
The portion was sooo little and it cost me RM10 for just a few slices. is bean curd that expensive???? the sauce was a little salty for me too.

King City Seafood Centre 皇城海鲜馆 (Bintang area, Miri)

This is a restaurant that i had been to a few times. there are some of the dishes that i like. For dinner, i ordered 4 dishes. It cost RM43 for 4 bowls of plain rice, 4 drinks and 4 dishes. I think it's pretty reasonable. So it's recommended.
Butter Milk Baby Kailan. We ordered this every time i come here, it's very fragrant and the baby kailan was crunchy.

Hot plate bean curd. The bean curd is own-made and I could taste the difference in it. It was served on the sizzling hot plate with an egg at the bottom. The taste of the sauce is nothing special, it's just some minced pork.

Salted fish pork. The pork was sliced so big and the quantity of pork  was very little, inside it were all onions and dried chilies. It looked promising but it was such a disappointment.

Salted vege bean curd soup, the taste was alright, as usual, salty and sour with canned mushroom, bean curd, tomato, pork slices.

925 Cafe

This is one of my favourite cafes. The price is affordable and the food quality is good too.

Butter Milk chicken, RM10, very fragrant and crispy. i like it very much.

Mongolian chicken, RM10. It's a little spicy. The chickens had a lot of bones.

Salad fish fillet, RM12. The dish was pretty good too.

Salted vege soup, this is add-on order. with 3 dishes ordered, this cost only RM4 for large.

Sambal sotong,RM10/12 the squid was big, spicy. i like this too.
